Asia Square Towers (The Cube)
The building
Asia Square Towers, located along Marina View at Marina Bay in Singapore, is a twin-tower mixed-use development that comprises 2 million square feet of grade A office space, a 280-room five-star hotel, 60,000 square feet of retail space and ‘The Cube’, a 100,000 square foot open public space with a ceiling height varying between 9 and 16 m used for networking or relaxing with a regular programme of exhibitions and performances.
The approach
Scientific Fire Services’ involvement in the project was limited to the Cube which is designed as a semi-open volume with glass walls. Scientific Fire Services conducted a fire safety engineering assessment of the innovative, unique and highly sophisticated smoke venting system as part of which buoyant smoke ascends towards the Cube’s ceiling space/plenum location and be naturally ventilated via the skylight channels and rain gutters. Scientific Fire Services constructed detailed and complex CFD models to evaluate the performance of this unique system.
