Wyncity Bowl and Entertainment Complex

The building

WynCity Bowl and Entertainment Complex is located west of Melbourne and is a large entertainment complex dedicated to fun and games. The centre offers ten-pin bowling, laser tag, bumper carts, glow mini golf as well as restaurants, bar and dining spaces. The development also offers private function rooms which accommodate corporate functions, conference as well as birthday parties.

The approach

The new building is multi-classified containing a total of three (3) storeys. Typically, a building such as this has the potential to accommodate a large number of occupants during peak times of the day/week. Although the building is provided with an adequate number of exits to accommodate the occupant loading, exit travel distances and compartmentation related design issues were addressed to meet the relevant Performance Requirements of the building code. Suitable levels of active and passive systems were recommended to enable safe occupant egress and mitigate the potential for fire spread.
