CBC Bearings

The building

CBC Bearings is a 100% Australian owned company established in 1954 and is part of the Inenco Group of companies. The CBC Bearings storage warehouse and office facility in Chullora, NSW is a purpose built facility which enables product warehousing of metal/plastic bearing components including other metal maintenance tools and lubricants/grease materials in plastic containers. From a logistical perspective, the Chullora location benefits from an extensive surrounding transport network including easy access to Sydney’s M4 and M5 motorways. The 11,810m² developments also accommodates associated office space for its corporate and administrative staff.

The approach

A life safety analysis was undertaken to determine the acceptability of the trial design which includes design issues that specifically relate to egress provisions and smoke hazard management design. To address these issues a holistic approach was undertaken with consideration of the fire safety systems installed within the building to ensure tenability limits are not breached during occupant evacuation as well as Fire Brigade Intervention.
