Woolworths Supermarket, Tura Beach

The building

The Tura Beach Woolworths retail development located at Sapphire Coast Drive, Tura Beach NSW represents another of the Woolworths ‘Marketplace’ developments. The regional retail centre represents a single storey modern retail centre accommodating the main anchor tenant Woolworths supermarket and numerous retail stores and speciality shops.

The approach

Scientific Fire Services applied a holistic approach to the Tura Beach Woolworths Retail Outlet centre to evaluate a number of design issues including rationalisation of the smoke hazard management system design and occupant egress provisions. The quantitative analysis included comprehensive CFD modelling and emergency evacuation simulation modelling. Qualitative risk approach was conducted to evaluate the essential fire services equipment and fire brigade perimeter access provisions.

The project was successfully delivered by the Scientific Fire Services team of engineers and construction was completed in 2011.
